HBO Officially Greenlights A Game of Thrones

Sorry I'm late on this, but big news came out earlier in the week.  HBO showed great wisdom common sense in officially green lighting GRRM's A Game of Thrones!  Let the rejoicing begin, because this is going to be amazing.   I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is the perfect medium to convert this series to film.  The series has so many characters and such a fantastically complex plot that it just wouldn't work as a feature film.  As a 10 episode miniseries however it will be fantastic.

Hollywood is very trendy, hence the reason you see pieces of shit like The Vampire's Assistant come out in the wake of the success of the Twilight series.  It's also the reason that you saw a host of fantasy films released during the years when both Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter were released.  Thank god this wasn't one of them.  There might be a dearth of good fantasy films, but HBO has ensured that we who love the genre have something special to look forward to.

This could be but the beginning.  ASIF is a seven book series and if each book becomes a 10 episode miniseries we could have 70 episodes to look forward to.  I know I'm getting ahead of, but hey a man can dream!

Finally enjoy this pic released by HBO from the opening scene of the A Game of Thrones pilot.
