2011 Gen Con Hotel Rush
Gen Con Housing opened at Noon and the Professor and made a coordinated effort to book rooms for our groups pilgrimage to Gen Con in August. To be honest I was more than a little concerned given the reputation of Gen Con's online systems coupled with my group's past experiences, but it all worked out great. We got our first choice, the Westin Indianapolis, right across the street from the convention center. This will (hopefully) make our experience even better than last year where we had to drive back and forth from our hotel near the airport and carry our stuff around all day.
If you haven't booked your hotel room yet through the room block do so ASAP, especially if you are looking for one of the closer hotels!
Those of you who have booked your rooms and got what you wanted join me in a collective, "WOOT!"

Fal-Con Less than a Week Away
Middletown CT will soon play host to Fal-Con. I'll be running a` Hackmaster Basic game at the convention based on the 1985 film, The Goonies. It may seem a bit odd, but as we pointed out on one of our top 10 lists, this movie is teeming with with great gaming ideas!
If you are in the area you should come check out Fal-Con, and maybe ever stop by the table and say hello. For those who want to give HMB a try and/or love the Goonies make sure you sign up. There will be tricks, traps, treasure maps, and a good time had by all!
Speaking of treasure maps, here is a look at Black Rob's Treasure Map that takes center stage early in the adventure. There are two version I am deciding on before having it printed. One has fold lines while the other just has curling and aging effects. Let me know which you like better.

| First up is the version with the agged folding lines. |

| And Here is the one without. I think I'm leaning toward this one. |
Update:
Notable improvement by overlaying a parchment texture. Gives the map a more worn and aged feel.

A New Gaming Convention in Central CT
One of the members of my group made the pilgrimage to GaryCon this year (yes, I was very jealous) and came back with an idea to start up his own home brewed, low key convention in central Connecticut where he lives.
Wanting to help I designed a couple of Logos for him and a flier to be posted in gaming shops around the state. We are trying to spread the word, so please feel free to print out a copy of the flier and post it at your local gaming store if you live within striking distance of CT.
There is a Facebook group, if you are interested, but make sure you check out the official Fal-Con website. It has all the details on the convention as well as a forum for people to discuss a variety of topics.

GaryCon This Weekend
GaryCon 2010 will be taking place this weekend. Every year I lament that I can't go to various convention and though I hope this is the year I finally break the GenCon barrier I know that GaryCon isn't going to happen for me.
Though I'll be missing out others will be attending what is by all accounts one of the best weekends of gaming available. Dave Kenzer has said that his team plans on running three to six Hackmaster Basic and Hackmaster Advanced games.
Sigh...
Well maybe next year. But those of you who are going this year I encourage you to pounce on a Golden Opportunity to play Hackmaster Advanced... and then tell me all about it! Yes that's right, I am serious. If you come back from GaryCon with a cool story and/or info on Hackmaster Advanced I invite you to email me and fill me in. Maybe it will make me less disappointed at missing out.
Safe trip to those heading out!
