Recently we looked ahead to the newest D&D video game that is being released, Daggerdale. So today I thought it would be fun to take a look back at the Dungeons and Dragons video games that have been released to date. Fortunately GameTrailers.com did a great video a while back that serves as the perfect link in this edition of Friday Videos. Though the video is a bit dated (it was released right before Dungeons and Dragons Online it does a great job of looking back at how D&D has helped shape the video game industry.

Nice video but really too short and full of loose info.
It s mainly focusing on the RPG aspect of adapted video games when D&D license has been used for many different kinds.
Other official D&D video games could have been used to illustrate other types of adaptations, as beat'em up with CPS2's "Tower of doom" and "shadows over mystara" or even 2004 released "Demon Stone", as also shoot'em up (on NES) and flight simulator (PC) with "DragonStrike", as strategy games of course with titles as "Stronghold" (93 vers), "Fantasy empires", "War of the Lance", "Blood & Magic" or more recently "Dragonshard", as fighting game with "Iron & Blood" or even as unexpected slot machine games with the online "Crystal Caverns" & "Fortress of Fortunes"...etc
And well, there are mistakes in the video...
Like Neverwinter Nights (2002) was not the first game to allow you to create dungeons and play DM... Unlimited Adventures gave you this opportunity in 1993...
There are a bit less than 80 titles that have been released till now...
Here is a great site about these, with an almost complete list of released ones up to 2009 :
